The Church of St Mary and St Nicholas in Wrangle sat next to a creek up which
boats sailed from the Wash - that is no longer the case.
The church is one of the many which once belonged to Waltham Abbey. Much of
the church was built in the 13th century, but the chancel was mainly built in
the 14th century and has an old sedila and double piscine which survive. The
beautiful 15th century porch which has a two odd corbels, one of three men huddled
together, the other of a animal being swallowed by a fearsome dragon. | ||||||||||||||||
